SIZ-EF Getting Started

In January 2025, a group of community volunteers was recruited to serve on a Steering Committee to work with Gail Rothman, Senior Consultant from The Callahan Collaborative, to create an education foundation for the Sequoyah Innovation Zone Cluster of Cherokee County Schools.

SIZ-EF, the Sequoyah Innovation Zone Education Foundation, will connect resources in the community to the needs of students to ensure that every student has what they need to thrive.

The Steering Committee, chaired by Larry Blase, has met several times and has worked on organizational bylaws, policies and other infrastructure items that will ensure a strong start.

The goal is for the Foundation to launch at the start of the 2025-2026 school year.

Gail Rothman is a national expert who helps communities and school districts start or grow their educations. She recently wrote a book called: Roadmap for Education Foundations: A Practical Guide to Building and Growing K-12 Support.
